Dawn Chorus 2018

Night turns into day

You can hear Tawny Owls (up to 1:30) eventually giving way to silence, before a distant Curlew calls (2:08) and individual Thrushes start singing thereafter. By (5:00) Blackbirds and Song Thrushes can be heard, as they answer each other in a chain reaction that cascades in volume.

15 minutes in and the songs are loud and persistent.

30 minutes in and more birds are joining in – Wrens and Robins. A Song Thrush is heard clearly (12:00).

45 minutes in and the Thrushes are still singing. A Wren can also be clearly heard.

60 minutes in and the Blackbirds are still singing. The Great Tits start adding to the soundscape.

75 minutes in and the Cock starts crowing. Blackbirds and Song Thrushes are still calling. After (9:09) the first Woodpigeons and Collared Doves are heard.

90 minutes in and the Wood Pigeons and Doves are still calling, with the rest of the birds.

A new day has begun.
