Roseberry Topping

It dominates our local landscape; a mini Matterhorn at 1/10th scale.

Climbing up it is ‘a stroll’, used by the local GP as a sign of fitness. The views up get steadily more spectacular.

Halfway up, the tree cover breaks, and the top becomes ‘pyramidal’; a trick of perspective.

Looking west, you can see the line of the hills that make up the northern ridge of the North York Moors.

These become even more apparent at the very top.

The sunlight bathes all in an orange glow.
