Gunnerside Redux

A return visit to Gunnerside in Swaledale, North Yorkshire

shows some changes from the trip made in mid June.

The valley floor is shorn of wild flowers, harvested for winter fodder. The sinuous dry stone walls remain, of course.

The sheep remain, nestling by the side of a stone barn.

Climbing out of the valley gives fine views,

with the green grass contrasting with the distant purple heather.

The farmhouses and huts that lie dotted amongst the stones focus the eye.
