Easter

Easter at Rievaulx.

The sun shines, and the Abbey appears through the woods which flank the valley.

In the woods are beds of moss

which grow over boulders

and up trees

Under my filed microscope (a new toy) the richness of the moss can be seen, even at 9x magnification.

There is far more than meets the eye in Nature.

Along the route back to the abbey, Pheasants abound in the field,

and sneaking through someone’s garden.

There are also primroses at the sides of the lanes

Finally back to the ruined Abbey.

Before the Abbey, oblivious to the stones and their history, a young fowl feeds.
