A brief moment

‘Twitching’ often involves being at the right place at the right time, so it comes down to either patience or luck to see something unusual.  So today, luck gave me this brief moment.

I was looking at Lake Wilton with a camera to hand, when a rare opportunity to see a Cormorant land in the water happened. It descended from out of the sky…

Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo)

Having landed with aplomb, the Cormorant began its task of catching today’s fish.

The keen eyed may notice another Cormorant with a white front standing on the rocks under the tree on Wiltonholme by the left of the first picture.  I’ll try and get a good picture of it another day.
